Relocation Experience (RX) & DEIB What's the Link?

Why Sprout is Unlearning to Learn

We’re outliers both in action and in mindset, with that comes our capacity to think differently and not be stuck on how things have always been done. Over the past few months, we’ve been sprouting up at conferences on everything from workplace wellness, to the future of work; eager to listen, level-up, and gain insights. Read on as we share what sparked new ideas, ways of thinking, and motivation to always be learning.

DEI vs. DEIB

We’ve been following ESG in the Workplace and are now joining the conversation on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) - what’s caught our attention is the addition of Belonging to this strategy.

"Inclusion involves efforts and behaviors that can be fostered by the organization or actually by the people in it. Belonging is something that employees themselves feel and results from your inclusion efforts.”

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB): A 2023 Overview, Academy to Innovate HR

Catching The Feels

The Future of Retail and The Future of Work share a distinct trend: people want to experience something outside of the transactional. Going back to the core, what makes us human, is how you make someone feel when they interact with you and your organization.  What we’ve learned is that the rising need for belonging signals to leaders everywhere: uncover human, inclusive, and trusted experiences to pave the way for employee satisfaction, retention, and attraction.

RX + DEIB What’s the Link?

  • RX Starts with Empathy: get to know people and what matters to them, embrace two-way communication and offer individual care and curated solutions.

  • RX is about Discovery: uncover the possibilities of embracing your new chapter in life... think cultural immersion experiences.

  • RX is backed by Human-Design: “longing to be”, people looking after people, taking a both/and approach when co-creating solutions.

  • RX evolves and grows with you: “being for long”, a long view approach to addressing the needs of the whole person, nurturing work/life experiences in an ecosystem that evolves and grows.

7 Takeaways to Build Forward Momentum on DEI

  1. As we as a collective become more empathic and inclusive, so should our businesses and services. We’re longing to be in work, life, and the experiences in between.

  2. Embrace that you don’t know what you don’t know. Adopt the Hu (Human) Element: Listen, Unlearn, Learn, Implement, Observe, Repeat.

  3. Humanizing the workplace starts with leaders, showing up as human and sharing their own vulnerabilities to build trust.

  4. Empathy given is empathy received. You don’t always get it right at the hop, it takes trust, empathy, and patience to truly support an environment of DEIB.

  5. Sustainable DEIB isn’t based on a one-size-fits-all, set-it-and-forget-it mentality. It’s a two-way dialogue between the heartbeat of an organization (employees) and its leaders.

  6. Creating authentic experiences is key. The Experience-driven economy and The Future of Work is fuelled by how you make someone feel when they interact with you and your organization.

  7. It’s the rise of the YOUniverse. Yes, you read that correctly. Next level self-actualization: we want to be the best versions of ourselves both in life and at work.

The learning doesn’t stop here.
